Mushrooms for Hashimoto's thyroiditis: which ones to use

Edited by Ilaria Porta, Iridology Naturopath

Medicinal mushrooms can be useful in alleviating the symptoms of Hashimoto's thyroiditis and improving the functionality of the immune system involved in the disease. Let's find out which ones to use.

The thyroid, an endocrine gland that regulates metabolism

What is Hashimoto's thyroiditis

Hashimoto's thyroiditis is a pathology much more frequent than is often thought, and today can be seen not only in women after menopause but also at a younger age. It is an autoimmune disease that causes the antibodies produced by the immune system to attack this endocrine gland, compromising its functionality. The consequence is a reduction (up to the cessation) of the production of thyroid hormones, and therefore to an induced hypothyroidism .

The symptoms are almost the same as hypothyroidism, in turn caused by an insufficient production of T3 and T4 hormones, which oversee a series of important vital functions, including basal metabolism and (in part) ovarian activity in women and libido in both sexes.

Thyroid disorders therefore can be very varied, we see those most frequently found: copious hair loss, excessive sensitivity to cold, very little sweating, slowing of metabolism which leads to weight gain due to an unaltered diet, anxiety and depression, skin extinguished, dry and brittle nails, tachycardia, hypercholesterolemia, slowing of mental faculties, memory droops, menstrual irregularities, polymenorrhea (more than one menstrual flow per month)

This endocrine dysfunction is autoimmune in nature. T lymphocytes, white blood cells that are part of our defense system against pathogens, infiltrate the thyroid gland attacking it and counteracting its functionality. Progressively this gland is destroyed, with a gradual worsening of the symptoms.

Which medicinal mushrooms to use in Hashimoto's thyroiditis

After doing some more specific and in-depth tests, the trio of REISHI, AGARICUS, and SHIITAKE mushrooms come to our aid. Whether you use drugs like EUTIROX or TIROSINT you can safely insert medicinal mushrooms after doing soil work on the body to enhance the work of the fungi themselves. Both the thyroid hormones T3 and T4 and the autoimmune thyroid peroxidase (anti-TPO) see rebalancing and return to normal with the intake of these three fungi, since they are rich in precious natural active ingredients for rebalancing the immune system and endocrine. They strengthen the immune system by rebalancing it, purifying the liver from chemical and biological toxins and giving more energy and well-being by improving the internal and external appearance of the organism.

SHIITAKE rebalances the intestine, in fact as we know when there is this thyroid dysfunction there is almost always constipation or colitis and this fungus helps the intestinal balance.

AGARICUS and REISHI rebalance the immune system so that it no longer attacks the thyroid, being adaptogens of all systems this will be their task.

This trio as already specified can be safely associated with the drugs you are taking because they have no interaction. However, it may happen that over time during the intake of the mushrooms there is a gradual improvement in the situation which can lead the treating physician to reduce the pharmacological therapy in progress.

Indications

Absolutely "NO TO YOU"! Always contact a professional in the field who will be able to indicate the type of mushroom or the best mushrooms to be used will be evaluated according to the subject and its constitution. In addition, soil work must first be done to ensure optimal action of medicinal mushrooms on the entire body.
