History and origin of transcendental meditation

Transcendental meditation consists of a mental technique aimed at developing the potential not only of the individual, but also of the community, thanks to the famous Maharishi effect. Transcendental meditation works exclusively on brain waves, distancing oneself from the usual religious and philosophical systems of meditation.

According to the theory of Maharishi, Indian master who invented the method, our brain is able to oppose electromagnetic fields, eliminating the negative effects, thus helping man to live in harmony with the cosmos. According to psychology, man normally uses a very limited part of his potential, which is between 5 and 10%.

Almost like a wave that quietens down becomes as limitless as the surface of the ocean, during the transcendental meditation our mind calms down within itself, transcending the level of thoughts and consequently experiencing the source of thought, the inner Self, like an unlimited ocean of consciousness. This process that leads to great inner peace also integrates the functioning of the brain and awakens the infinite potential of creative intelligence that lies asleep at the source of our thought.

The transcendental meditation has been made famous thanks to the interest of some celebrities of the show, among which the Beatles certainly stand out. Initially branded as hippy mysticism, transcendental meditation has since gained respect for scientific fields.

The benefits of transcendental meditation

The benefits of transcendental meditation are scientifically proven; among the positive effects we find stress resistance, reduction of anxiety and depression, control of hypertension and cholesterol, headache and relief from asthma.

The harmony that the technique induces involves an improvement in the quality of life and in the relationship with others, of personal performance, to the point of even involving the community.

Some unique scientific studies have shown that in cities and areas where 1% of the population practices transcendental meditation, negative behaviors such as crimes, accidents and conflicts are decreasing .

Mantras for meditation: the primordial vibration of being

Description of the technique

To ensure maximum effectiveness, the transcendental meditation technique is taught to the adept in exactly the same way as was used thousands of years ago, the same method introduced in the West by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. For this form of meditation, therefore, no book, video or friend who already practices can come to the aid. It takes something and "someone" more.

Transcendental meditation must be learned by a qualified and certified teacher during a two-step process : learning in seven steps, followed by six checks over a period of four months.

Transcendental meditation is then practiced twice a day for 15 or 20 minutes, sitting and with eyes closed, repeating a mantra, the word that each receives from the teacher during a private ceremony. The mantra must remain secret .

Suitable for

To learn the potential of transcendental meditation, you need to register with the Global Country Association for World Peace. Apart from that, transcendental meditation is open to everyone, even to children, but due to its selective nature, especially in learning, it is probably more suitable for those who have great willpower and greater perseverance, as well as an interest in the improvement of the person, and why not, of those around us.

Nevertheless, over the past 50 years more than 6 million people worldwide have learned this art. Further fields of application are rehabilitation, school, corporate work and sport.

Where transcendental meditation is practiced

As reported by the official site of Transcendental Medicine in Italy, " a unique feature of Maharishi's transcendental meditation is that the technique varies from individual to individual, so teaching must be personal ". The learning path includes seven meetings, each lasting an hour and a half.

Once the technique is learned, after specific checks and tricks, you can practice alone. The portal contains a list of transcendental meditation teachers who can be contacted.
