Herbs and medicinal plants are those used for the health and well-being of men and animals. These can be used in the kitchen, in herbal teas, or undergo chemical transformations, to produce supplements, drugs or cosmetics.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines medicinal herbs and plants, "medicinal" when "they contain substances in one or more organs that can be used for therapeutic or preventive purposes or that are precursors of chemopharmaceutical hemisynthesis".
Each plant or herb, however, contains hundreds of chemicals and active ingredients and among these, the probability that some are toxic to humans is very high. Therefore herbs can have contraindications and side effects, dangerous or harmful to human health.
It is therefore good to know all its features and properties well and consult an experienced doctor before taking them .
