FAI, Spring Days 2016



This year there are almost a thousand places in 380 locations in all Italian regions, open and told to the public, with free contribution visits. Countdown therefore to the long-awaited appointment of the Spring Days of the FAI, the Italian Environment Fund, which has as its theme of the current edition "the transformation" .

Transformation like that of the more than 8 million Italians who queued up in 23 years to rediscover the places that have written the history of our country.

Transformation because thanks to FAI these places have returned to live and tell their treasures, sometimes redesigning the cultural geography of the area.

Transfomation because to tell about these places also meet young students, Ciceroni apprentices, often criticized and accused of passivity and disinterest.

Appointment on 19 and 20 March with the FAI open doors

On the weekend that announces spring, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March, throughout Italy, palaces, churches, castles and parks that are usually not open to the public will be open to the public, thanks to the collaboration of FAI volunteers, often helped by students from various cities, young people budding guides.

A unique opportunity to discover the architectural and natural beauties of the Italian territory, now in its twenty-fourth edition. Beauties that merge in the current edition also with mechanical tools and historical machinery, such as the vast area of ​​La Spezia dedicated to the rolling stock that made the history of the railway, or the Royal Pavilion of Milan Central Station, or the SECH terminal at the port of Genoa, or the Rice Research Center in Castello d'Agogna, a stone's throw from Pavia.

Just to mention a few gems:

  • the Girolamini Library in Naples
  • The Historical Museum of the Genius of Genius in Rome
  • the Megalithic Area at Saint Martin de Corleans near Aosta
  • the Church of Santa Maria della Vaglia in Matera
  • the Historic rolling stock depot of the FS Italiane Foundation in La Spezia
  • the Royal Pavilion of the 1931 Central Station in Milan
  • the Rice Research Center in Castello d'Agogna (Pavia)
  • the Green Theater of the Cini Foundation in Venice
  • the SECH Terminal, among the main Italian container terminals, in the port of Genoa

It will also be possible to call 02 467615270. The i-Os and Android versions of the FAI APP will be downloadable for free from the Apple and Google Play stores. Easy and intuitive, the geolocated app will recognize the user's location and indicate the map of the nearest places to visit. The FAI video "Together let's change Italy", becoming more and more part of this project and immense work.

The FAI has been a great reality for 40 years to safeguard the artistic and naturalistic heritage, but lives thanks to volunteering and collective support: with a small gesture of generosity, sending a text message for 2 euros or calling from landline 45599 to donate 2, 5 or 10 euros, is possible from 14 to 27 March.
