Summer, heat, mosquitoes, but also more intense evening or night social life, open-air sports practices, in short, with the summer the rhythms of our days change, in addition to temperature, the degree of humidity and mood.
Perhaps we have never thought about it, but our organism changes with the changing seasons and also the quantity and quality of our sleep.
The heat and the heat are the main factors of poor quality of sleep, but also dinners consumed late, the use of some extra alcoholic beverages, a tennis match after work for example, can affect our summer sleep .
If we struggle to fall asleep or wake up in the middle of the night and cannot sleep any more we see some "trick" to simplify our lives.
The setting for summer sleep
Hot, humid, no air conditioning: we must try to keep the room cool and dehumidified with the means we possess: after airing the room in the morning it is good to close the shutters or lower the blinds and get dark during the day, so as not to allow the sun to heat the room and preserve the cool as much as possible.
In the night hours we then open the windows with the hope that a slight breeze can enter, which gladdens the night. We prefer light , breathable natural fiber, cotton or linen sheets that do not retain body sweat.
We avoid having equipment that produces electromagnetic pollution in the bedroom : mobile phones, turned on computers, tablets, but also televisions: unfortunately they are all tools that urge our brain cells to remain vigilant and fall asleep for those who struggle can become difficult.

Rituals for summer sleep
If we are coming back from an evening out together, perhaps in a disco or simply at dinner and we ate and drank more than usual, let's get into the habit of drinking an herbal tea, which we will let cool down, with the linden, the passion flower, the scallop, the fennel, mint : it will help us digest dinner, relax the stomach, calm the central nervous system, quell the adrenaline we have in our circulation .
While waiting for our herbal tea to become clean we take a lukewarm shower, ending it with a jet of cold water on our legs and feet: it will "purify" us from the excess of vitality, from the heat, from sweating. Cold water re-oxygenates the tissues of the legs, deflates them, promotes venous circulation, relaxes the muscles.
Feeding for summer sleep
In the long summer evenings we avoid eating foods that are too "heavy", rich in fats and proteins. Red meats, legumes, but also carbohydrates seasoned with ragout sauces should be banned.
Better fresh salads, fish, pasta seasoned with vegetables, brown rice or venere rice, white meats, extra virgin olive oil, little salt, we prefer spices that counteract water retention and meteorism such as ginger, turmeric, juniper berries, chili peppers : they are refreshing, digestive, and perfectly flavor our foods.
Anti-mosquito for summer sleep
And to keep away troublesome insects, perfume the environment and relax our central nervous system a mix of essential oils that we can put in a room diffuser: citronella, geranium, verbena .
They have many properties in addition to protecting us from mosquitoes: they purify the environment in which we go to sleep, the citronella is indicated for hypersudoration, seborrhea, colds, difficult digestion, fatigue, headache; geranium is a lymphatic, antineuralgic, analgesic, antidepressant, anxiolytic, liver and pancreas stimulant, diuretic; the verbena is a calming, and nervous re-balancing, febrifuge, digestive, and is particularly indicated in case of insomnia.
