Facial warts: causes and natural remedies

Facial warts are growths caused by the infection of the human papillomavirus, which can occur by direct or indirect contact.

Let's see what the causes are and in detail the natural remedies to combat facial warts .

Causes of facial warts

Facial warts are skin lesions more or less detected and characterized by hyperkeratosis, acanthosis and papillomatos : in practice, the cells of the epidermis develop excessively and on the skin are visible growths that are more hardened than the surrounding skin .

Facial warts, like all warts, are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), which, as we have seen, induces epidermis hyperplasia, stimulating the infected cells to replicate and keratinize.

Infection occurs more frequently on the skin of the hands and feet by direct or indirect contact on the injured skin, for example in the swimming pool, in the common showers or in the dressing rooms of the gyms; the virus does not spread far from the point of contact, but it can spread with self-contact : the warts on the hands can then spread on the face by contact.

65% of warts tend to regress within two years, but warts are often recurrent and reform even after removal or treatment.

Natural remedies for facial warts

Among the natural remedies against facial warts we find the application of natural extracts : for its antiviral action, the most effective remedy against warts seems to be garlic.

Against the warts it is therefore possible to regularly rub the area to be treated with a cut garlic clove and cover the area with a plaster. Better to do the treatment in the evening and let the garlic act on the wart for a few hours or all night.

Another very effective natural remedy for facial warts is Tea tree essential oil: in this case, a drop of essential oil must be diluted in half a teaspoon of olive oil and apply the oil to the area to be treated. The treatment must be repeated and continued constantly to be able to appreciate its effectiveness.

The propolis resin to be applied locally and some plant extracts are also effective against facial warts, including salicylate (found in willow and spirea), podophyllin, a resin extracted from the root of Podophyllum peltatum and, finally, latex present in the fig.

A somewhat bizarre remedy but which seems to be effective to remove facial warts without risk consists then in adesiotherapy : in practice it is applied with adhesive tape on the wart, to be changed every day, to eliminate it .
