Naturally take care of the soul in the Abruzzo National Park

The Abruzzo National Park, pure beauty

After the earthquake of 6 April 2009, tourism in Abruzzo suffered a strong tourist repercussion, which affected in part the parks of the Gran Sasso-Monti della Laga, of the Majella and of Abruzzo.

For detailed and valid information on the state of health of the region, you can resort to 3e32, a blog dedicated to the earthquake of 6 April 2009, with coordination activities for the revival of the city and an image gallery. Here, now, we return to the Abruzzo National Park, because it is a wealth that many Italians are not aware of. Born in 1922, it extends along the Apennine ridge between Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise. Rocky peaks over 2000 meters high, forests where beeches breathe, black pines and more. A small guest star, the Marsica iris (also known as giaggiolo). The etymology of this magnificent orchid is linked to the word " rainbow ", which speaks volumes about the beauty of the specimen, its splendid corollas.

And the fauna, splendid fauna: the Marsican brown bear, the fox, the tree frog, the peregrine falcon, the Orsini viper, the white-backed woodpecker, the yellow-salamander salamander, the yellow-bellied toad, the alpine rosalia and a vast rose of different butterflies.

The seasons in the Abruzzo National Park

Once the snow emergency is over, that the services of the National Park of Abruzzo, and in particular those of Surveillance and Technician, have been able to manage with great efficiency, the park resumes and takes stock of the situation. The Park Guards have constantly followed herds from 20 to 60 animals (one in the Molise of 120). We were happy to know that, despite the alarms of the last weeks, at least the Park's scientific services have reiterated that the snowfalls of these weeks, however intense and lasting, fall within the cyclical nature ; in winter an unavoidable natural selection takes place.

Enjoying the four seasons of the National Park is a unique experience. In the spring you can observe the flowering of the pastures, in the summer keep an eye on the chamois on the peaks and the flight of the young eagles, in autumn the deer, the colors of the crowns, the bears just before hibernation. Still on the official website of the National Park you will find information on how to get there, on events, places to eat and sleep.

We strongly suggest an expedition in these mountains: moving the body in this environment, walking, breathing this air is a beautiful experience; whether you decide to do themed excursions, trekking programs or daily mountain excursions. The Park Authority, through its own CEA and through collaboration with the Associations and Cooperatives of the area that deal with Environmental Education, is always organizing new and effective environmental education programs for all age groups. Finally, we also recommend giving yourself to the local diet, tasting the delicacies of the place, getting lost among truffles, brown trout, local ricotta, mushrooms, wild spinach. Pure, real, exquisite cuisine to be enjoyed in this park that ranks among the 5 most beautiful in Europe.
