The eclipse of the Moon

Moon eclipses: what the stars say ...

We are at the eclipse of Luna, the last of 2012. From Italy it will be partially visible, even if it will be less spectacular than the solar one of last November 13, while we will see well from almost all of Asia and from Australia. It will last about four and a half hours.

But let's get to the energy point: what will happen astrologically? Let's start with the etymology of the word eclipse. It is a term of Greek origin, ékleipsis, which properly means "abandonment", "lack" . Abandonment of what? We'll find out together.

Eclipses have been phenomena taken into consideration by astrology since ancient times, when ancient peoples feared them as obscure omens, and, in general, can represent important changes and turning points in life .

Eclipses are indicative of growth or evolution and despite their short duration as a celestial phenomenon, they can have an effect capable of conditioning events for a few months later than when they occurred.

More specifically, the solar eclipse represents the beginning of a new chapter of our life while the moon eclipse marks the end, the closure, the abandonment of the past precisely. An eclipse is therefore a very strong moment for our unconscious.

The stars say that this phenomenon can come to surprise us, opening a new path for us and directing us towards a seemingly tortuous path.

The influence of an eclipse is very strong for those who turn a birthday on a date close to when it occurs. We are all sensitive to his influence and his energy will push us towards some change, some choice to make, in the astrological house where it appears.

... and what atrologists think

As stated by one of the most famous astrologers Dane Rudhyar, in his writings "The Astrological Houses" and "The Astrology of Personality", when you have a lunar eclipse it is the past that is put into question, almost as if be dismissed, forgotten . While the eclipse of the Sun has to do with power, the lunar eclipse has to do with emotions.

The eclipse this time will be in the sign of Gemini, an important astrological moment for all signs, an influence that will give us the right energy to make complicated choices and understand what we are, what we want and undo certain knots that we carry with us. Gemini is indeed an air sign, which will give us intense mental activity, lucidity and allow us to meditate in a profound way .

Space to science: what is a penumbral eclipse?

Technically it is a penumbral eclipse, one of the less showy, so we will see the Moon simply slightly in shadow. The Earth, aligned with the Sun, will cause a cone of shadow that will absorb the Moon.

In lunar eclipses the cone projected from the Earth is always much wider than the Moon, and is accompanied by another cone of shadow, called the penumbra cone, in which only a part of the Sun's rays are intercepted by the Earth.

The Moon will therefore not cross the cone of shadow totally, but only in its area of penumbra, it will therefore result in a slight darkening of the northernmost part of the Moon. You will have exactly 4 hours and 36 minutes of elissi and the Moon will enter the cone of penumbra at 1.15 pm Italian time on Wednesday 28 November.

The eclipse will be clearly visible from much of Asia, Alaska, Hawaii and New Zealand. The central path of the eclipse will pass in Australia, starting from the Garig Ganak Barlu National Park, at around 9.15 pm, Italian time.

The shadow will then cross the Gulf of Carpentaria to reach the peninsula of Cape York at 21: 37 to arrive in Queensland, in the city of Cairns, north-east of the country. After leaving the land of kangaroos, its shadow will slide over the Pacific Ocean.

This is the fourth and final eclipse of 2012. The others were the solar one of 20 May last, the partial one of the moon on 4 June, the total of sun on 13 and 14 November.

Trivia: We will still have to wait three years to see the fateful red Moon, the total lunar eclipse, we will see it in fact on the same date of 2015.
