Memory and physical activity

Physical activity stimulates memory. This is demonstrated by several clinical studies, such as the following: a group of university students underwent a mnemonic test (remember names paired with faces after a short period of time from the time when the correct combinations were shown to them).

Half of the group performed exercise with an exercise bike at an increasing rate, while the other half of the students remained at rest. The group that has given all its strength to exercise on exercise bikes has achieved improvements in mnemonic capacity. The same improvement was achieved by training the subjects for a minimum of five weeks.

The advantage is therefore relative to both focused and intense exercise and chronic training. The data is probably related to BDNF ( Brain-derived Neutrophic Factor ), involved in the well-being of nerve cells and in the formation of synapses, which is present in a correlatable way only in the blood of students who have completed the exercise of short duration and high intensity or that they trained for more than five weeks.

The results of this study are interesting, especially for those who have often been worried about that precious time "stolen" from studying or working to devote themselves to some physical activity.

Physical exercise plays an important role in the preservation and achievement of an appreciable physical form, of an adequate state of health (in fact it is fundamental in the prevention of overweight, neoplasms, diabetes, cardiac and inflammatory problems) and in the well-being of the brain.

Ultimately, there are no excuses for not doing regular physical activity!
