Have you noticed? In spring, animals lose their winter coat, trees get rid of the coverings of the buds, and we also want to change the wardrobe (which we don't do immediately because of a lack of desire, that's another story ... .).
It's time to get out of hibernation, to get rid of the winter armor, not just externally: the body needs to eliminate toxins in order to start a new season full of strength.
That's why we need a light diet, which helps us to free our body from accumulated waste, to get better and, why not, maybe lose a few pounds of fat.
The detoxifying diet helps us: here is an example and 2 recipes.
The detoxifying diet: what it is
Our common diet is mainly composed of ready-to-eat foods, from biscuits to crackers to sliced meats to handy envelopes ... which they skip.
Products that often contain many substances that food are not : thickeners, unspecified aromas, preservatives and good company.
All things that our body must somehow dispose of . If we add alcohol, we have completed the picture. The liver, kidneys and other detoxification organs are overworked.
We try to give them relief with a healthier, fresh, light and genuine diet . At least for a few days a month, or a week, even better. That's why the detoxifying diet is born. Does it make you lose weight? Also, as a secondary result maybe, but the main goal is health certainly.
Detox, but what does it mean?
The rules of the detoxifying diet
Few but strict rules: no to preserved food (that of boxes, bags, cans), no to refined foods (those too white: flour, rice, sugar, yes to whole-grain alternatives), no alcohol, no red meats, cured meats and aged cheeses.
Go ahead for fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, legumes, lean fresh cheeses. Drinking lots of water helps the body to get rid of toxins. Yes to fresh fruit juices, centrifuged vegetables, herbal teas.
Here are some foods that facilitate purification and are strongly recommended during the detoxification diet: pineapple, artichoke, onion, cucumber, watermelon, fennel, parsley, celery, cabbage, broccoli, apples, plums, berries, brown rice, plain yogurt natural, extra virgin olive oil.
Foods to be eliminated on depurative diet days: salt, smoked foods, fried foods, sweets, coffee, frankfurters, hamburgers, spirits.
Reduce medications to the bare minimum.
Avoid stress as much as possible, learn meditation techniques: stress increases cortisol levels and this contributes to an additional work surplus for the liver
The detoxifying diet: an example
Organizing a detoxification diet is not difficult, it can be done for two or three days after a period of dietary delights, or for a few days a month .
No to the supermarkets, yes to the greengrocers, with these basic indications:
Breakfast : 50% of fruit and vegetables, 50% of whole grains without gluten (rice, corn, amaranth, millet ..., puffed or flaked) and oilseeds (walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, pumpkin or sunflower seeds ). Unsweetened tea or herbal teas, vegetable drinks (soy, almonds, rice, hazelnuts or other).
Snacks : fruit, vegetables, oilseeds.
Meals (lunch and dinner) : 60-80% of vegetables, 20-40% of legumes and gluten-free cereals. Small portions of steamed fish are allowed sporadically.
Condiments : extra virgin olive oil, avocado, lemon juice, guacamole, hummus and seeds (sesame, chia, poppy, sunflower etc.).
Here is a typical day of the detoxification diet:
- Breakfast : Green tea, 3 corn cakes, 3 teaspoons of lemon jam or bitter orange
- Snack: berries
- Lunch: pan-fried Belgian salad with extra virgin olive oil; light saffron risotto: 80 g of toasted brown rice with 2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil, to which little by little, after cooking, some vegetable stock is dissolved in which a sachet of saffron has been dissolved
- Snack: fresh pineapple
- Dinner: 150 g of pulses, 200 g of fennel in a pan with 2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil, 3 rice cakes
The detoxifying diet: two recipes
A soup for all seasons
Ingredients:
> extra virgin olive oil,
> 8 carrots (peeled, sliced),
> 1 chopped onion,
> ginger .
Preparation : heat 2 tablespoons of oil, add the vegetables and ginger, stirring briefly. Cover with water and cook for about 40 minutes, then keep the broth and blend the vegetables. Add broth to obtain the desired consistency. Serve with raw oil and toasted wholemeal bread. Excellent also warm.
Vegan salad
Ingredients:
> 100 gr of quinoa,
> 100 gr of tofu,
> sesame seeds,
> black olives,
> fresh rocket,
> extra virgin olive oil,
> lemon juice .
Preparation: rinse the quinoa in running water and cook it in plenty of water for about 15 minutes, then drain and add a little oil. Cut the tofu into small pieces and add it to the quinoa. Cut the olives into slices and rocket and add them to tofu and quinoa. Season with extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice.
