Choose the massage school

Choosing a massage school depends on what you hope to learn from that course. Nowadays there are an infinite number of massage schools, both holistic and aesthetic, and there are just as many "teachers" ready to teach you any technique so deciding who to trust would seem very easy but in reality it is not.

The fundamental thing that you have to ask yourself is what you want to learn from that course, what you want to convey to those who will later come to you to be massaged and what is the purpose that led you to decide to attend it.

If your goal is simply to learn a sequence to present to your customers then the choice of the teacher or school will be very simple. Choose the school closest to you, or the one with the nicest site, or the school with the self-proclaimed teacher or even the one that advertises itself in every way and in every fair or even the one that offers you the nicest gadgets, or even the one that guarantees you that it is sufficient to pay for a certificate to be exhibited.

If instead your purpose is another, deeper, more human and more professional, then what you need to look for is more difficult to find ... but not impossible. The masseur is like a falegnam and he must have a box full of tools, real and virtual, in order to know which one is the most appropriate to use at a given moment to give the person who is massaging what he really needs. Attending a course can help you add a "tool" to your box but then you need to be able to figure out which "tool" you need at that time and for that person.

It is here that the importance of the teacher comes into play because it is he who must transmit all this to you.

The first thing you need to do is read the CURRICULUM of what your teacher could be and see what his experiences, his journey over the years, his interests and his knowledge are.

A good teacher must have his / her own path of studies or that must be made of various experiences accumulated over the years and must be a person always in continuous research and evolution, must know how the human body really works, must also have an inner path and that it can help you understand how to reach the balance between mind and body and remember that you are still working on a person's body and therefore it is necessary to know a part of the anatomy of the human being.

You must be able to read this information and you must REQUIRE to know this type of experience so that you can evaluate who you are entrusting your time (and your money) to.

The teachers who do not have a curriculum or who have taken only one course and then propose themselves as inventors and teachers of miraculous techniques are actually the same ones who will transmit you a simple sequence, like a choreography, of a ballet for its own sake .

They will not explain the origins of the technique you are learning, they will not tell you why the movements must be done in a certain way, they will not explain to you how the body reacts according to your maneuvers and in consequence of the techniques you are applying, they will not tell you about how to try to make the mind and body reach balance and they won't do it because they don't even know them.

Another fundamental point is the certificate of participation or the diploma . Some schools do not guarantee the release of the certificate at the end of the course. And here the question will spontaneously arise: "But how? I pay and I do not have the certificate guaranteed? "Exactly!

This too is a sign of seriousness in that the serious schools are not interested in having a thousand people around the world with their certificate and who have received it only because they have paid but are actually not able to perform a good massage.

It is the practice of some high-level schools to release the diploma only when they believe that the student has really understood the "essence" of the technique and who will not be considered suitable will be able to repeat the course for FREE until it is considered really ready and moreover, this methodology also serves to stimulate people to make a real commitment to obtain a positive result with determination.

Last but not least, a serious school must make itself known and promoted for its qualities, for the professionalism it can guarantee, for the technical skills it has; beware, therefore, of those who, instead of letting you know their own strengths, tend to denigrate or speak ill of other schools because this is a sign of insecurity, of scarcity of topics and of little ethics. How to choose the school or teacher to rely on? Relying on concreteness and not on appearance!

" It is what we already think we know that prevents us from learning new things " [Claude Bernard].
