Among the essential oils that help fight couperose we find the essential oil of German chamomile ( Matricaria recutita ), useful for disinfecting, soothing and decongesting the skin, geranium essential oil and essential oil of helichrysum to reactivate the circulation .

The best vegetable oils that improve the skin in the case of couperose are rice oil and tamanu oil; the latter in particular protects the capillaries and improves circulation.

Even hydrolates can help in the case of couperose, in particular cistus hydrolate and cypress hydrolate : both have beneficial effects on microcirculation.

DIY cream against couperose

Who is not a beginner in the field of DIY cosmetics, can try their hand at making a simple do-it-yourself moisturizing and anti-age cream useful for combating rosacea.

The ingredients are all available in herbal medicine with the exception of the emulsifier and the preservative that you can request at the pharmacy or buy online.

Ingredients

> 54 g of demineralized water

> 20 g of cistus hydrolate

> 20 g of rice oil

> 6 g of emulsifier ( Glyceryl stearate )

> 8 drops of essential oil of helichrysum

> preservative (doses according to technical data sheet)

Method

Weigh all the ingredients with a precision digital scale. Pour the oil and the emulsifier into a small clean glass jar; in another jar, mix the water and the hydrolate.

Heat both jars slightly in a bain-marie and remove from the heat as soon as the emulsifier has melted. When its phases are at the same temperature, pour in the phase containing the oil and the emulsifier in the water and hydrolate phase: mix vigorously until an emulsion is obtained. Add the essential oil and preservative, stir and pour into a clean and disinfected container.

This preparation has a pH of about 5.5; it is preserved at room temperature for a maximum of three months and is applied with a light massage morning and evening after cleansing the face.

Causes of couperose

Couperose is caused by a dilation of the capillaries : this results in a diffuse redness on the face and often on the neckline. The predisposition plays a fundamental role in the appearance of this imperfection, but there are other factors responsible for couperose: temperature changes, the use of vasodilator drugs, the use of oral anticonceptives, excessive exposure to sunlight without protection.

The abuse of alcohol, tobacco, spicy foods and improper cosmetic treatments tend to aggravate the situation.

Other treatments against couperose

In order not to aggravate the couperose and to reduce the redness it is useful to follow a beauty routine that foresees the use of delicate and tonics detergents without alcohol.

The skin will then be hydrated with creams that also protect from the sun's rays and ingredients with a vasoprotective and soothing action: butcher's broom extract, centella asiatica, chamomile, horse chestnut are just a few examples of natural substances that can combat couperose .

Treating the diet and not abusing smoking, alcohol and coffee can improve the skin affected by couperose, as well as avoiding sudden temperature changes.

It will also be necessary to pay attention to the environments in which one lives and works: in winter, place humidifiers on radiators to maintain the humidity of the air.
