Water retention problems? Let us help ourselves with 4 herbs

It can happen to all of us to notice that in certain areas of our body there are edematous stagnations, especially in the abdominal area, on the thighs, on the buttocks and on the arms.

These annoying accumulations of liquids can be due to a sedentary lifestyle, a poor diet, heart and kidney failure, stress that sometimes makes us "run right and miss without even having time to pee". .. how many times have we started with this statement?

Unfortunately, when cellular exchanges, tissue oxygenation and blood and lymphatic circulation do not move in harmony, blocks form, real stagnations, edematous swellings.

We can then resort to 4 medicinal herbs that help fight water retention .

Cherry peduncles

The cherry peduncles can come from both the Cherry (Prunus Avium) and the Amareno (Prunus Cerasum).

They are used as a draining remedy. They have diuretic, anti-inflammatory, astringent and sedative properties of the urinary system. The peduncles of the cherries must be used as soon as the cherries are picked or they must be dried.

Administration : are prepared in decoction : boil the peduncles in water for 10-15 minutes, allow to cool and drink during the day. This preparation can be the basic beverage to supplement other draining remedies in mother tincture.

Warnings : may interact with anticoagulant drugs and acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin).

Pilosella (Hieracium Pilosella)

The Pilosella is a remedy with draining and purifying properties . It acts both in the liver and in the uric level. It purifies the blood from the excesses of a high-protein diet, it is choleretic and cholagogue, therefore it promotes the secretion of bile and its outflow.

It is an adjunct in the treatment of uric calculosis, it is diuretic, contributing to the elimination of uric acid and nitrogenous waste, and draining fat and liquid accumulations . It also performs a slight antiseptic action in case of tract infections, such as cystitis.

Administration : Pilosella In Glycerine Macerate: 20 drops 2 times a day diluted in water or even in our decoction of cherry peduncles.

Centella Asiatica (Hydrocotyle Asiatica)

Centella is a remedy to support venous circulation , thanks to its saponins . In fact, with the stimulation of fibroblasts, collagen structures the tissues, the blood vessel walls, the connective tissue and the dermis. In short, a 360-degree intervention that stimulates venous and lymphatic stasis, providing new tone.

It is indicated for venous insufficiency, swollen and heavy legs, pains in the veins, capillary fragility, edemas and also useful in treatments against celulite.

Administration : it is recommended to use the Asian Centella in dry extract in FTTCA form (triterpene fraction of Centella Asiatica), 30 mg 2 times a day.

Warnings : do not use Centella in pregnancy or during breastfeeding.

Birch Sap (Betula Verrucosa)

Birch is a plant with diuretic, draining, anti-inflammatory properties, thanks to the presence of flavonoids and potassium. It is indicated to prevent kidney stones, edema caused by heart failure, water retention due to venous insufficiency and cellulite. The birch sap is collected by drilling holes in the trunk facing upwards where canula are then inserted to convey the product. Also the birch mother tincture contains betulin with high anti-inflammatory, diuretic and purifying properties . It dissolves urinary deposits and expels urea.

Birch sap in glycerine macerate: 20/30 drops 2 times a day in the decoction of cherry peduncles.

Warnings : do not use Birch in case of allergy to acetylsalicylic acid, in case of heart or kidney failure. Not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Water retention: other tips to defeat it

Water retention is the result of multiple concatenated causes and must be faced from multiple sides.

First of all the supply of liquids in our body must be constant: it is important to drink water, each of us has his preferences and it is right to respect them, whether it is smooth or carbonated, rich or poor in mineral salts this depends on our body, on what tolerate, what it needs.

I recommend in these cases a draining water, with low residue of sodium and calcium, which stimulates diuresis to eliminate excess liquids and toxins. I do not agree to indicate daily standard quantities.

The famous 2 liters of water per day for some people can be excessive and fatigue the kidneys. The urine is the litmus paper that shows us if we are in a condition of correct hydration or not: if the color is dark and turbid it is clear that we are not drinking enough to purify our body from waste.

Movement, walking, running, gymnastics and, if possible, draining massages must also be combined, even if done alone, perhaps with circulating essential oils.

Then if we add some herbal or phytotherapic extracts to our simple water, we will enhance the draining effect to detoxify tissues and deflate from fluid stagnation.
