During the summer months, the skin is the organ most exposed to the action of atmospheric agents, in this case to that of ultraviolet sun rays, the main problems that are frequently encountered are irritation, sunburn and real burns, 'solar erythema is a reddening of the skin, very frequent in the area of the shoulders, but also of the face and decoltè, originating from a dilation of the capillary vessels, occurs, due to inadequate exposure to the sun. It can occur in a mild form, or in a very intense way, it frequently occurs in people with complexion, eyes and light hair, the symptoms that characterize it are, itching and burning in the affected part, in the severe forms of sunburn they can appear on the skin also bubbles and vesicles, resulting in flaking in the affected area. The demonstrations tend and regress and resolve within four or five days.
At sea or in the mountains, it is always advisable not to expose yourself directly to the sun in the central hours of the day, ranging from eleven to sixteen, a time when the sun's rays are more intense and aggressive on the skin. Always apply, even if the sky is overcast or in the shade protective creams, remember, that vitamin E plays a fundamental role in skin regeneration, protecting us from the damage of free radicals, so we can use creams with natural bases, for example all 'aloe vera or shea butter, or, to apply oils, for example monoi oil or jojoba oil, it is always useful to wear hats, better if made of natural fibers and use sunglasses, to avoid damage to the eyes .
But now let's see how to prevent erythema, using foods rich in antioxidants and beta-carotene.
Throughout the summer, especially before the holidays, it is important to stock up on beta - carotene or vitamin A. This vitamin, in addition to being known for its beneficial effects on the whole visual system, is particularly important and necessary for the structure of the skin. The beta-carotene, is present in high quantities in carrots, which can be eaten grated, or briefly steamed, but given the high temperatures of this season, I suggest to centrifuge and consume them immediately, to avoid the loss of nutrients, perhaps associating them with apricots or peaches, the latter are very suitable, in case of excessive thirst or dry mouth.
Finally another fruit that I recommend to consume in this period is the mango, which can be tasted in a fruit salad perhaps always combined with peaches and apricots, it too is very rich in beta-carotene, as well as almost all the B vitamins, Mineral salts and some amino acids, the high content of trace elements make it a slightly laxative and diuretic fruit, therefore suitable in case of water retention, a disorder that can occur in summer and constipation, frequent when you stay away from home.
