Intestinal disorders? Natural remedies to help

Intestinal imbalances can be of different origins. For some people they are born from problems related to stress, at frenetic and not regular rhythms, or due to lack of movement and sporting activity, low fiber diet or too rich in sugars.

In other cases the regularity can be revolutionized by a flu state, perhaps by taking antibiotics. Seasonal changes, dietary variations, travels are all variables that can influence the normal intestinal peristalsis or the balance of the bacterial flora.

Fortunately there are many remedies of various kinds that can come to our aid in case of bowel sleep, constipation, irritation of the intestinal villi, swelling and colic.

The bacterial flora, what is it?

Under normal conditions our intestines are colonized by billions of microorganisms that constitute the so-called bacterial flora, rich in probiotics, otherwise known as lactic acid bacteria.

The function of the bacterial flora is

  • to counteract the onset or engraftment of pathogenic bacteria that we commonly introject with food
  • to intervene in the digestive processes favoring the absorption of nutrients
  • to support the immune system, in fact 70% of macrophages reside in the intestine.

It is therefore essential to protect the correct habitat with some remedies that can help the functional normalization of the intestine, without altering the bacterial flora with drastic remedies.

This is why even when using laxatives it is always recommended not to abuse it and not to continue the treatment for long periods . So let's see how to help "the land" first.

Probiotics

We hear about it everywhere, on television the advertising of yogurt with lactobacilli has won us over and the use of live milk enzymes is now clear to everyone.

These are probiotics, bacilli that literally favor the life of the intestinal flora. We find them in various forms and if you live they must be preserved with a careful respect of the cold chain, otherwise they do not arrive intact and effective in our organism, and often this foresight is not guaranteed to us!

To avoid this problem, probiotics have been developed in spores . Bacillus coagulans easily adapts to this formulation: they are practically "dormant" bacilli that await the right external conditions in order to grow and reproduce.

In this way these probiotics can be preserved intact and potential at room temperature. Thanks to their natural capsule that protects them from heat, from the acid pH of the stomach and from the attack of gastric juices, they arrive healthy and safe in the intestine, where they can germinate, reproduce and colonize already after about an hour of taking them, enriching the bacterial flora with new energies.

They are useful in cases of diarrhea, after a pharmacological treatment based on antibiotics, in the case of colitis, diverticulitis and to regenerate the immune system.

Let's clarify some probiotics

The Carminatives

Carminative or carminative plants are remedies that are used to promote digestive processes and counteract flatulence and meteorism .

They are carminative plants like carvi, cumin, fennel, coriander, peppermint, anise, chamomile, lemon balm, angelica, whose effectiveness is to be attributed to their essential oils.

These anti-fermentative remedies are able to act directly on the intestinal wall, stimulating muscle tone and favoring the reabsorption of gases and the reduction of any painful spasms.

On the market we can find infusions of single herbs or herbal teas mixed with more carminative herbs that act synergistically.

Mode of use

  • 2 grams per infusion in a cup of water, to be drunk twice a day after the main meals, may be the right dosage to ensure proper digestion and the elimination of even painful abdominal swellings.
  • In dry extract, 800 mg tablets twice a day, between meals.

    Vegetable carbon

Vegetable carbon is an excellent remedy when the intestine is irritated, due to food poisoning or drugs, in case of diarrhea and an excess of intestinal gas.

Vegetable charcoal is made from soft, non-resinous woods, such as poplar, birch or lime. Through a process of carbonization in special furnaces at high temperatures, a sponge-shaped carbon is obtained, in which small channels, called micropores, perform the function of absorption .

    Mode of use

    • We can take charcoal tablets, even in combination with 500 mg carminative remedies 2 or 3 times a day between meals.

      Mushrooms "Medicinal"

There are particular so-called "medicinal" mushrooms that carry out an interesting prebiotic activity on the intestine, that is they stimulate the growth of micro-organisms useful to the bacterial flora.

In particular, the Shitake, whose Latin name is Lentinula Edodes, stimulates the proliferation of Lactobacillus brevis and Bifidobacterium breve, thus favoring the regeneration of bacterial flora and counteracting the harmful effects of some intestinal pathogens.

Some studies conducted on the Shitake have shown that one of its active substances, lanthionine, together with oxalic acid, possesses antibacterial and bacteriostatic properties capable of inhibiting Streptococcus Pyogenes and Arafta Strafilococcus .

      Mode of use

      • We can take Shitake in a dry extract of 500 mg twice a day.
