How to cure curly hair in children

Curly hair in children often tends to become frizzy: let's see how to take care of children's curly hair so that it always remains soft and light.

Curly hair in children, how to avoid knots and frizz

Curly hair in children can be difficult to manage because they often form knots, tend to break when you comb them and easily become frizzy.

To ensure your children light and soft curls, free of knots and without frizz, it is necessary to take care of their hair from cleansing to drying, so you will need a fair amount of patience.

To wash children's curly hair, choose a mild shampoo specially formulated for children. After shampooing, apply a small amount of balm designed for curly hair, so that it helps to untangle the hair without weighing it down.

Spread the balm evenly over the entire crown and then comb the hair. To untangle curly hair, choose a wide-toothed comb and comb it until you have removed the knots.

After rinsing the conditioner, dab the hair with a sponge and devote yourself to drying: use the hair dryer at medium-low intensity and with the diffuser, directing the jet of air from the bottom up by collecting the strands in your hands to define curls.

At the end of the drying process, direct the cold air jet of the hair dryer onto the curls for a minute, always from the bottom upwards.

Curly hair in children: what not to do

There are small tricks to prevent children 's curly hair from becoming frizzy or knotted, or appearing weighed down.

First of all it is better to avoid excessively aggressive shampoos and it is preferable to use a specific conditioner for curly hair: other types of balm, although untangling the hair, will tend to weigh them down and the effect will not be to have soft and light curls but the opposite.

A balm specifically formulated for curly hair will help prevent knot formation, untangle existing ones and leave soft hair at the same time.

Comb the hair from wet and after distributing the balm and carefully avoid combing the curls dry or using a comb with tight teeth as in both cases you will run the risk of breaking the hair and, consequently, the curls will tend to be more frizzy and hair will knot more easily.

After cleansing, do not rub the hair with the sponge as the friction could break the hair, which as we have just seen, worsens the frizz and increases the formation of knots.

Ideal for curly hair for children would be to dry in the open air but it is not always possible, so use the hair dryer: do not use the hair dryer without a diffuser and avoid too hot or too powerful a jet of air, for make the curls stay defined.

Also, while drying the baby's hair, do not try to split the curls but follow the natural shape of the hair with your hands.

Do not use styling products such as foams or lacquers to avoid compromising children's hair and skin health.
