External hemorrhoids are venous dilatations that are everted from the bluish-colored skin, positioned near the anus. They can appear soft to the touch, but in conditions of acute inflammation, they swell and harden becoming very painful.
Hemorrhoids should never be neglected, because they can get worse, resulting in bleeding or even fistula infection. It is therefore good to intervene with soothing, astringent and disinfectant remedies, both orally and locally applied.

Its reddish color is given by the presence of hypericin and flavonoids useful to counteract the capillary fragility and venous atony . The hypericum oil also has antiseptic and bacteriostatic properties useful for controlling possible infections in case of fistulas.
Why hemorrhoids are formed
The causes of hemorrhoidal formation can be multiple and of different origins. It may depend on a congenital physiological propensity linked to blood pressure exerted on the last stretch of the rectum which causes distention of the vessels, with consequent slowing of blood flow and the formation of clots.
In other cases they may be episodic manifestations due to obesity, heart disease, pregnancy, childbirth, eating habits with excesses of spicy flavors, constipation. This can cause internal or external hemorrhoids and the pain we feel is due to their "choking" or the occlusion of the vein which causes the blood to flow from the clot, which swells with sometimes unbearable spasms.
In some cases surgery is also used, but it is never conclusive because the vessel extractions can continue to reform.
It is therefore good to try to tackle the problem right from its first manifestations, change its eating habits and try to prevent them with careful prophylaxis.
