What is psoriasis

What is neem oil and what is it used for

Neem oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the seeds of Azadirachta indica, a tree native to India where it is considered sacred.

Neem oil contains, in addition to fatty acids, also active molecules including azadiractin which give it particular properties.

In fact, neem oil is an excellent bactericity, insecticide and natural repellent, an effective remedy against numerous bacteria, parasites and insects .

Neem oil can be used in the garden as a repellent, insecticide and natural pesticide ; it can also be used as a natural flea for dogs and cats; in cosmetics it is used as a repellent for mosquitoes and lice and for treating acne-prone skin .

The topical use of neem oil is considered useful for many skin conditions including mycosis, dermatitis, ulcers and psoriasis.

Neem oil for psoriasis

Traditionally, neem oil has been used for the topical treatment of dermatitis, skin ulcers and psoriasis. However, the studies supporting the topical use of neem oil for psoriasis are scarce and dated; the same thing can be said about the studies on the efficacy of neem leaf extracts taken internally.

In agreement with the attending physician it is however possible to associate neem oil to the therapy, to be massaged daily on psoriasis lesions .

Do-it-yourself oil for psoriasis

With the following recipe you can prepare a useful oil to soothe inflammation, redness and possible itching, speed up skin healing and soften flaky areas.

Ingredients

> 10 g of neem oil;

> 90 g of coconut oil;

> 30-50 drops of lavender essential oil.

Method

Mix the neem oil with coconut oil; add the lavender essential oil and mix. Transfer to a clean and dry container and keep away from direct sources of light and heat for a maximum of three months .
