The vitamin B12 supplement

Vitamin B12 or water-soluble cobalamin is also known as the " energy vitamin " for its energizing power and is also essential for longevity.

It cannot be produced synthetically, but is formed on colonies of bacteria or mold present above all on the meat. It appears as a dark red vitamin, a shade given by cobalt .

Vitamin B12 is also extremely important for the synthesis of hemoglobin . It is necessary for the metabolism of nervous tissue, proteins, fats and carbohydrates.

What's more, vitamin B12 regulates the body's intake of iron and fixes vitamin A in tissues.

Reflections on vitamin B12 consumption

The vitamin B12 supplement

We find vitamin B12 in animal proteins. The liver is the best source, followed by the kidney, the muscle meat, the fish ; in the vegetarian field it is contained in egg yolk and, to a lesser extent, in cheeses, especially aged. It is strongly debated whether it is contained in the most useful form for us also in algae, as nori or spirulina, in soy and derivatives.

In the case of a vegan, however, the concern with vitamin B12 becomes concrete and sensible, because it is a vitamin that plants do not produce . In fact, vitamin B12 comes from bacteria in the soil; those who eat only vegetables, are forced to wash food in compliance with essential hygiene standards. However, these necessary precautions ensure that the external content of the plant and therefore vitamin B12 are lost during washing.

This is why a vitamin B12 supplement is helpful. This is free of animal derivatives and is not classified as a drug. It contains a biologically active form of cyanocobalamin and is readily available.

You can choose to take a vitamin B12 supplement once a week (a 2000 microgram tablet) or every day once a day (a 10 microgram tablet).

To be honest, even eating meat can lead to vitamin B12 deficiency: not only because some drugs prevent it from being absorbed, but also because it has been found that some organisms belonging to individuals under the age of 50 hardly release that type of vitamin .
