What does eating mean?
Hunger and thirst are fundamental physiological needs in recovering the water and energy consumption of a subject. But that's not enough. Eating is a concept that has other meanings for human beings. We only think of the conviviality of food . Sociality of sharing food with loved ones, as a ritual. Talk, have fun and be comfortable with your fellow men.
Food mediates the relationship with what is around us, the external environment that shapes our identity. Good and bad foods are in the mythology, in the art and culture of man, real engines of life.
Also think about our tastes . Spicy for some, sweets for others. When we eat, we don't like what we eat and what we eat. It is us, food tells us and others around us the "taste" of our personality . Not to mention the emotional aspects due to food. From love for food to rejection for this. Obesity, anorexia, bulimia. All disorders due to an unbalanced relationship with food.
Eating properly and having great respect for what we consume is the first step to staying healthy. Nowadays, it is equally important to have the right ability to learn about food preservation and preparation standards and to know their characteristics and properties. Simple rules that allow a person to sew the right dress to the daily action of eating, without diminishing the act to mere sustenance of the organism.
Diet and more
Each existing food system depends directly on the culture and needs of an era. If you think about it, there are few simple and valid ones for every time and place. The scientific reductionism that considers food the fuel for the 'body machine' has often been shown to cause it to fail so often recommended diets even hurt our body.
The term ' diet ' derives from the Greek ' daita ' which means ' regime of life '.
Feeding therefore cannot be understood as a restrictive sense. A man's life is not a mere explanation of mechanical functions. There is not only a balance between income and expenses. Caloric stones often leave the time they find. A more adequate nutritional concept must be associated with a lifestyle and thought that privileges respect for man and the environment according to a holistic and global vision of the world. Food is important for the quality of life and is much more than a physical need.
The smells, the aromas and the fragrances, the sensations of taste and the colors of the table have an undeniable effect on our state of health. Food culture often forgets it.
